🎀 “A Stitch in Time Saves… Oh, Never Mind.”

You know that old saying, â€śA stitch in time saves nine”?
Well, whoever said that clearly never dropped a bobbin down the side of a sewing table.

Yesterday I bravely decided to “quickly” fix a small tear in my skirt before heading out. How hard could it be? Ten minutes, tops. Fast forward forty-five minutes later: the skirt’s in worse shape than when I started, I’ve rethreaded the needle eight times, and the cat has made off with my spool of thread.

At one point I was hand-stitching with such concentration I accidentally sewed part of the fabric to my own sleeve. (That’s one way to stay attached to your work, I suppose.)

By the time I finished, I didn’t so much have a skirt as a learning experience. Moral of the story? If something can wait until tomorrow, let it. You’ll have better light, fewer cats, and maybe even a bobbin that fits.
