When people ask me how long Iāve been writing The Thimblewick Mysteries, the answer is: longer than I care to admit.
These stories have been with me for over a decade. Some of them started life scribbled in notebooks, others on clunky old laptops that sounded like they might take off at any moment. And while the mysteries themselves havenāt changed, the world around them has. When I first wrote The Poisoned Cup, nobody in Thimblewick was glued to live streams or scrolling through endless feeds ā so when I dusted it off for publication, I had to give the whole thing a gentle āmodernising.ā (I canāt exactly have my characters sending telegrams while the rest of us are on Zoom, can I?)
The first book took me more than six months just to polish up and bring into todayās world. But once I started, I couldnāt stop. Because hereās the truth: over the years, Iāve already written six Thimblewick mysteries in draft form. Theyāve been patiently waiting in a drawer (well, several drawers) for their moment.
And now, one by one, Iām bringing them out, updating them, and sharing them with you.
The second book, The Vanished Sampler, is almost ready. I actually accidentally released it early (classic me), but pulled it back down for more edits. If you happen to see a rogue listing on Amazon, please ignore it ā the real, polished version isnāt quite there yet.
But donāt worry. When itās ready, you wonāt miss it. Iāll be shouting from the rooftops (or at least from this blog, and probably with a biscuit in hand).
Thank you, as always, for being here at the start of this adventure. Thimblewickās mysteries are ready to be told ā and I canāt wait for you to read them all.
